Job Description

  • To add value to the strategic direction, planning, budgeting and performance of the business in support of the Nigeria country CFO, GM & OCC. Heads, Head WB Finance Africa
  • To improve performance management and business partnering through:
  • Enhancing analytics to provide value add insight into the WB business
  • Improving quality of reporting and other Finance related metrics
  • Developing a good understanding of the WB business and supporting the business in managing capital and driving performance management by instituting a risk/reward culture.
  • Enhancing the cost and investment management by developing a strong understanding of the entire WB cost base.
  • By adding more value to the function and assist Business Heads in decision making through understanding the soft spots in WB business.
  • To enhance the Financial control environment and ensure that there is continuous improvement in existing processes, infrastructure and capabilities
  • To take a keen interest in the implementation of new or enhanced accounting/banking systems for the region ensuring that mappings, product codes and accounting treatment are correct
  • To enhance WB Finance performance for Nigeria and contribute to best practice within Africa.

Keys and Responsibilities

Budgeting and Planning

  • Provide financial input and co-ordinate the formulation of the Business operating plans/budget and monitor progress towards its achievement, drawing attention to important trends opportunities to maximise earning and minimise risk.
Business Partner

  • Collect and present relevant financial data to help in the formulation of the strategy of the WB Business and monitor progress towards Key Performance Indicators
  • To assist the WB in all matters relating to WB Customer Profitability Reporting
  • Partner business in establishing a low, and value for money cost base
  • Assist business in analysing variance reports and variations from stated strategies
  • Regularly highlight performance and execution gaps from agreed strategies and recommend remedial actions
  • Ensure that the WB balance sheet is aligned to deliver performance targets and continuously leveraged to deliver optimum revenues.
  • Perform regular segment, customer and product profitability reviews to ensure that value i snot being destroyed.
  • Act as Financial advisor to the WB business in matters relating to Finance

Reporting

  • To ensure WB monthly reporting is timely and accurate at both product and customer segment levels. This includes the consistent application of the Funds Transfer Pricing and Cost Allocation methodologies
  • Assist business to undertake the financial analysis of the Business monthly performance

Budgeting and Planning

  • Provide financial input and co-ordinate the formulation of the Business operating plans/budget and monitor progress towards its achievement, drawing attention to important trends opportunities to maximise earning and minimise risk.

Financial Control

  • Review and monitor the business performance against Group policies for Market Risk, Liquidity Management, local regulatory and other statutory requirements
  • Manage the WB cost centres
  • Ensure adherence of Wholesale Banking to the Financial Control Policies
  • Ensure that the WB business complies with taxation, capital, regulatory and statutory accounting requirement.

Capital Management

  • To assist the CFO, Nigeria on capital management issues.

Project Management

  • Assist in the evaluation of projects which are specific to the WB Business in accordance with Group and local guidelines and contribute fully to their implementation
  • Assist business in preparation of PARs
  • Ensure that project accounting disciplines and tracking mechanisms ( including benefits tracking )are in place for all WB projects

Operational Risk

  • Act as the responsible person for Finance Business Operational Risk Group
  • To review the operational risk reports for the unit (KCSA, KRI, SORE, LSORE) as required.


Others
  • Undertake ad hoc projects and assignments as agreed with Line Manager and the Heads of Global Markets and OCC.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High level of computer literacy and understanding of business computing environments
  • Knowledge of the Banking practice and Products
  • Strong knowledge in Management Accounting principles
  • Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Team player and builder
