Objectives
 Within the Vice Presidency of the Chief Operating Officer (VP/COO) the Results and Quality Assurance Department (ORQR) provides advice and support in the design, preparation and, implementation of operational policy matters, and spearheads the implementation of the Bank’ Agenda on Quality and Results. The department comprises four divisions: Results Reporting; Quality Assurance; Compliance and Safeguards; and Gender and Social Development Monitoring.



The key mandate of the Quality Assurance Division (ORQR.2), as a service unit, consists of supporting the quality and results focus of Bank operations. To this end, it is responsible for (i) setting operational quality standards, (ii) developing / upgrading tools and processes throughout the operational cycles, and (iii) strengthening staff capacities and facilitating operational knowledge sharing and dissemination. The main objective of the position is to develop and disseminate operational knowledge across the Bank, focusing on the effective use of quality assurance tools and results-based management approaches.

Objectives
 The Board Affairs Department (SGBA) of the Vice Presidency General Secretariat provides for the day to day operational requirements for the effective functioning of the Boards of Directors and at key times, the work of the Boards of Governors. The SGBA’s responsibilities extends from the setting up of the Boards work programme through review and distribution of documents to ad hoc services and monitoring of the utilization of certain major budgets including those of the Bank Group Annual Meetings. In Addition, SGBA is responsible for shareholder related activities, monitoring of relations with member countries and providing support and administrative services to Elected Officers.

Duties and responsibilities
 Under the supervision of the Division Manager/Director, the incumbent will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
  Prepare statutory documents for the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors: (i) The agenda of meetings of the Boards of Governors (in consultation with the Office of the President and Vice Presidential Complexes); (ii) Designation of Bureau members and the Joint Steering Committee; (iii) Designation of the Standing Committee on Conditions of Service of Elected Officers;

Duties and responsibilities
 Assist the Finance and Budget Officer in preparing timely quarterly, mid-year and annual financial statements and reports for submission to the Steering Committee
    Ensure compliance with the internal financial and accounting policies and procedures of both the host institution and ADEA;
    Develop annual work program jointly with the Finance and Budget Officer in support of the implementation of the annual work program of the Secretariat and the Working Groups;
    Operate the financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable and accounts receivable book keeping entries;
   
    Selection Criteria
 Including desirable skills, knowledge and experience
 Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional work experience in an international organization, NGO or development agency;

African Development Bank Graduate Internship Programme 2016

African Development Bank Graduate Internship Programme 2016 
 The primary objective of the Internship Program at the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) is to deepen the Bank’s efforts to advance development within its regional member countries (RMC) through capacity building activities. 
The Program aims at providing candidates with the opportunity to acquire and develop the ability to work in an international environment, provide the Bank a pool of potential candidates in the future and enhance the visibility of the Bank and its development activities.


Eligibility Requirements
In 2016, the Bank is planning to recruit 60 interns. 
The following are the minimum requirements:
Aged between eighteen (18) to thirty (30) years.
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s/Master’s level degree program or its equivalent in a recognized public or private institution of higher learning. 
Apply for an internship within one year of having obtained such a degree. 
Provide a letter from the University / Professional institution school confirming the enrollment for the current Program. 
Citizen of a regional or non-regional member country of the African Development Bank.
Applicants must be fluent in, at least, one of the Banks’s working languages (English or French). 
Female candidates are encouraged to apply.  
In addition to the above selection criteria, preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the following: 
Ability to leverage knowledge.
Ability to share knowledge.
Adaptability to multicultural settings.



Terms and conditions
Internships shall be granted to each candidate for a period not less than three (3) months and not more than six (6) months.  The internship will be authorized only once for any candidate.
Interns shall be responsible for their air travel (where applicable) to and from the Bank’s location as well as their upkeep.  
Interns shall be responsible for their medical insurance coverage, and for obtaining entry and residence visas in the host country of the Bank.
Eligible interns will be provided with a monthly stipend, depending on the budget availability.
Interns may be authorized to participate in an official Bank’s mission.
Internships shall be performed either at the Bank’s headquarters in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) or in any one of the Bank’s field offices or Regional Centers.
